In the last episode, I provided you with information related to being your own advocate.
Today I want to give you tips on two things when you're communicating with a provider:
1. Your tone is important
2. You have a choice
You want to make sure that you are succinct and direct in your communication. Try very hard to provide the facts related to your story and symptoms. This is why I spoke about preparing your patient story. Additionally, always remember that you have a choice. If you don't like a particular provider, you have the ability to choose. Never doubt your gut. If you don't feel like a doctor is listening or if something is wrong, you can choose a new provider.
